Come To Mama!

We adore Paris and have always admired Philippe Stark, so how could we not fall in love with Mama Shelter, the new hotel Stark recently designed in the City of Lights. Located in the Saint Blaise quarter just across the street from Le Fleche d'Or, the quarter's legendary rock and electro club, this boutique hotel was created by the Trigano family (founders of Club Med) and French Philosopher Cyril Aouizerate. The exposed concrete walls, mirrored surfaces, dark mood lighting and graffiti covered ceilings perfectly compliment this out of the way, funky neighborhood that's often compared to New York's lower east side. Rebel-chic but cheap, rooms start as low as 79 euros and include such amenities as wall mounted iMacs, free WiFi, Kiehl's cosmetics and Stark's signature furniture. But be warned, the closest metro stop is at least a 10 minute walk from the hotel. It is however, located near the cemetery Pere LaChaise, a popular attraction where the legendary Jim Morrison is buried. Even though Mama's a bit out of the way, we have a feeling it'll be well worth the trip once you get to her. I mean come on....who hasn't wanted to snuggle up next to Chewbacca.

The room with the iMac looks incredibly futuristic! I would love to have my house done in that style :)

Cheers!

Won't that hurt your neck to actually use that iMac? It's way too high! Looks pretty, sure, but anything but practical :).

I have seen many pictures of this hotel. I have a feeling that it is one of those places that really look better in reality than in photos. Most of the photos I have seen look too grey which does not serve the purpose of making it appealling to book.
