Sister Act.

Last Thursday we found ourselves in a truly impressive apartment designed by the architecture firm Hariri & Hariri to help celebrate the space being featured in the latest issue of Interior Design Magazine. Established in 1986 by Cornell educated, Iranian born sisters Gisue Hariri and Mojgan Hariri, this New York City based firm is internationally recognized for creating provocative yet poetic designs and this particular project is no exception (click here to learn more and see photos). While we were completely taken with the apartment itself, it was the client's remarkable art collection that really left a lasting impression on us. In fact, we had been invited that evening by two of our other favorite designing sisters, Joan and Jayne Michaels of 2Michaels Design and were thrilled when they introduced us to the artist Michele Oka Doner who was also in attendance that night (see images of her work in above photos). She was a truly lovely soul with a sophitiscated elegance that was as understated as it was unforgettable. As new fans of her work, we find it to be truly inspiring and definitely worth sharing. You can also see images of Michele's loft here! Hope you enjoy it! On a side note...speaking of Interior Design Magazine, there's an article in this month's issue regarding "The Start of Something Big" and yours truly has a quote on staying connected:

"Blogging is one of the most important marketing tools of the 21st century. If done thoughtfully, the ever changing content will attract individuals eager to learn more about your perspective. Before you know it, your name is spreading like wildfire."

I've loved Oka Doner's work for years. She has an amazing loft that coincidentally I saw featured today on the blog below:

Hi Brad,
Wasn't the party and the apartment lovely?
I'm so glad you got to meet my "inspiration' Michelle Oka Doner. I used to work for a designer in Soho and I'll never forget the day I saw Michelle Oka Doner on the street. She was wearing something floaty and white and I thought she was the most beautiful and elegant woman I'd ever seen. I didn't know who she was but I kept thinking about her....
Ten years later I finally met her and I saw the work she produced and it astonished me! She's truly an inspiration.
Thanks for the post.

in this era of "branding" through brash self promotion, it's lovely to hear about someone who is elegant and self effacing. michelle oka doner is authentic and a true talent.
love the work of the two sets of twins, who are also classy.
thanks for posting this.
