Good Times!

We planned on holding off a few days before we talked about our room at the Hampton Designer Showhouse sponsored by Traditional Home magazine, but we were so excited this morning when we found out the New York Times was featuring our room that we decided to write about it sooner (click here to read the article). Initially, when we were asked to be a part of this year's showhouse we hesitated. But once we laid eyes on the home's screened-in porch we knew instantly we had to design this charming space. When thinking about what to do with the room, our first thought was to take classic pieces associated with a screened-in porch and take them to another level. Hence the idea of "upholstered" porch swings and a wind chime art installation. We were really pleased with the way the room turned out and have many people to thank for helping us pull it together and have listed the resources below.

And for those of you living in the New York area be sure and check out Joan Hamburg's Radio Show Friday afternoon, July 31st on WOR 710 (12:00-2:00 pm) or listen to the podcast here (we're in the second hour.) We had a fantastic time on the show talking about the showhouse and shared the mike with the Barefoot Contessa herself, Ina Garten, fashion designer Nicole Miller and the Prince of Chintz, Mario Buatto. Also, be sure and tune into Channel 4's Open House NY Sunday, August 2nd at 8:30am to see a feature on the showhouse (or you can watch it here!). Again, if you find yourself in the Hamptons this summer be sure and stop by the house which is open 7 days a week and runs through Labor Day Weekend. It features the realized visions of a fantastic group of designers and each room is decorated beautifully. The tickets are only $30 and all proceeds go to benefit the Southampton Hospital. Again, we'd like to sincerely thank the New York Times for showcasing our room as well as the following individuals and businesses who helped us make this space a reality:

Having just visited the showhouse, I have to say your room and Kat Burki rooms are the only two who truly captured the Hamptons. Marvelous!

I randomly happened upon your blog, and I love what you did with your showhouse room! It is very inventive, yet also so familiar and comfortable. Thanks for posting pictures since I am unable to visit the room in person!

Just saw your porch in copy of Trad Home magazine at the beach house where we're staying. Breathtaking! So glad to have found more info after poking around online, too. Love everything about the space -- and your design aesthetic (especially after perusing more of your lovely portfolio). Can't wait to see more...
