Off The Wall.

We've absolutely loved being a part of this year's Hampton Designer Showhouse, but one of our favorite takeaways was having the opportunity to work with ceramic artist Jennifer Prichard of J. Prichard Design. We have followed Jennifer and her brillant work for years, so when we first had the idea of doing a porcelain chime installation for our screened-in porch, she was the first person we called. Jennifer normally creates space-transforming wall installations for luxury hospitality and commercial spaces in the US and abroad (including the Herman Miller National Design Center), so we were pretty nervous about asking her to help us with a hanging installation that would be off the wall. But after explaining our concept and sending her a sketch, she enthusiastically agreed to help us. Jennifer's designs are usually created by hand in her Austin, Texas-based studio, which is certainly not convenient to the Hamptons. However, through many e-mails, phone calls, sketches, and fed-exed prototypes we finally came up with a design that all of us seemed happy with. We can't thank Jennifer enough for all of her hard work, especially on such short notice (she basically had less than 4 weeks to create hundreds of individual porcelain chimes). We flew her up to help with the actual installation and she worked her tail off for two days to create one of our favorite designs of all times. Not only are the chimes beautiful to look at, but the sound they make when the wind blows is truly amazing. We honestly couldn't be happier with the results and if you find yourself in the Hamptons please please please stop by the showhouse and take a look at our screened-in porch as well as the rest of the showhouse. It's a fantastic house for a fantastic cause with all of the proceeds benefitting the Southampon Hospital. In the meantime, to see more images of Jennifer's remarkable wall installations, please click here!

You were awesome on LXTV Open House on Sunday morning! Loved the segment and especially your porch!!!
LOVE
Brad, I visited the show house last week and your room was my favorite. You really did an outstanding job and I could live in those swings! I have been a long time fan of Tucker Robbins and did a blog post on his work and community projects a few months ago. I am going to profile your room on my blog this week. Congratulations on such a wonderful project. Bet it was fun!
WOW. Those wind chimes are about the most interesting concept I've seen in weeks. I wish I'd seen them in person. Way to go!
I just spent the weekend with Tucker down here on the Eastern Shore of Virginia working on his Central Green project--a non-profit he is pulling together in an old school that will be "an active model of sustainable living" (on twelve acres). He's awesome too.
