Seeing Stars...

It's hard to believe how quickly the month of October's zooming by, but not surprising considering our heavy workload and the busy social season. As we've said before, this a good problem to have, but at times it's literally left us seeing stars including last week when we attended the D&D Building's Stars of Design Awards. This was a fantastic way to cap off the day which began with our participation in a fascinating panel discussion on The Evolution of Design presented by The Editor at Large. The evening's awards ceremony and dinner was not only tremendous fun (how can you not have fun with the likes of Mario Buatta and his "pet" cockroach Harold), it also was incredibly inspiring with honorees representing the best of several design genres. These included:

-Interior Designer Thomas Britt
-Interior Designer Ellie Cullman
-Architect Costas Kondylis
-Landscape Designer Michael Van Valkenburgh
-Jewelry Designer Robert Lee Morris
-Graphic Designer Jessica Helfand
-Artist Hunt Slonem
-And our dear friend photographer Scott Frances whose photographs are featured above (including the last one which was shot for yours truly).

We had a fantastic dinner featuring lump crab salad and filet mignon prepared by Charlie Palmer and the pleasure of sitting between Marisa Marcantonio, the editor for the D&D's informative new design blog www.godesigngo.com, and the always charming Sabine Rothman from Traditional Home. It was definitely a long but very inspiring day, and by the end of it we couldn't help but remind ourselves why New York is one of the greatest places to live in the Universe.
