We just got back from one of our favorite events of the season – Housing Work's Sixth Annual Design on a Dime. Tonight was the opening night reception which gave ticket holders an opportunity to preview and purchase items from spectacular vignettes designed by some of the country’s top designers including everyone from James Huniford to Charlotte Moss, as well as a new discovery for us, the very talented Asler Valero (their rooms are showcased above). Sponsored this year by Traditional Home magazine, the fundraiser continues tomorrow and Saturday and is free to public. Not only can you get terrific ideas, you can also get incredible bargains on everything from new housewares to furniture and linens, all available at very charitable prices. Housing Works provides lifesaving services such as housing, medical care, meals, job training, legal help and HIV prevention education to more than 20,000 homeless and low-income New Yorkers. You should definitely do yourself a favor this weekend and stop by to support this amazing organization, and who knows .... you may wake up on Sunday with a sense of pride for having helped others and quite possibly a newly furnished living room to boot!
