Several weeks ago we had the opportunity to meet Marc Kristal, the author of a new book entitled: Re:Crafted, Interpretations of Craft in Contemporary Architecture and Interiors. The book deftly examines what constitutes the craft influence in contemporary architecture and design and it features twenty-five residential, commercial and institutional projects by major international design figures such as Tom Kundig, Bill Sofield and David Ling, as well as relatively unknown and up-and-coming designers. When Kristal first showed us his advance copy we knew right away we had to get one of our own. We were instantly drawn to the subject, the featured talent, the handsome photography as well as the smart writing. An architecture and design journalist, Kristal is a contributing editor of Dwell, a former editor of AIA/J, and has written for Metropolis, the New York Times, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor and numerous other publications. Aside from being a prolific writer, he also happens to be a genuinely nice guy whose enthusiasm for what he covers is positively infectious. He was quite proud of his new publication and rightfully so – it's a really fantastic book. We're equally excited about our copy and have a feeling you will be as well.
