Happy Fourth Of July!

Believe it or not these large works on paper are made by exploding and containing live fireworks, resulting in bursts of saturated color that are overlapped and collaged into abstract compositions. The artist who creates these pieces is Rosemarie Fiore and she lives here in New York City. We think they're fantastic and thought this would be the perfect way to kick off the holiday weekend. Below is an image of Fiore in action as well as a video of her talking about her inspiration and the process behind her work. Enjoy! Hope everyone has a fun, safe and relaxing weekend (oh and by all means...please don't try this at home).

Amazing work! Personally I am too scared to touch fireworks, being able to handle it with such wonderful results I take my hat off. Happy 4th of July Brad and thanks for following me on twitter!

Sparklers would be about as aggressive as i would want to go. I love fireworks, but just looking at them.
Pretty dyno-mite works.

There's just gotta be an easier way to make a living! LOL

Having done glass blowing & bronze casting myself though -- I can understand the attraction of hot and volatile mediums. Exciting to work with! Would love to know what ever gave her the idea in the first place. The work turns out absolutely beautfiful!

Oh! Guess I should have watched the video BEFORE I commented! So THAT's how she got the idea. Cool!
