Renowned for his architecture and lifestyle photography, Scott Frances is one of the most prolific photographers working in our industry today. We've know Scott for years and have been fortunate enough to work with him on a number of our own projects. He's not only an incredible talent but also a dear friend which is why we're so excited about an exhibition opening this week entitled MonoVisionN. The show consists of a selection of photographs including 68 large-scale works and it takes place at the D&D Building's Annex Building here in New York at 222 East 59th Street. The opening reception is this Tuesday night, June 21st from 6 to 8 and runs through July 29. Three signed limited-edition prints by Frances will be auctioned off to attendees at the opening reception so be sure you stop by (please rsvp to 212-759-5408 or rsvp@ddbuilding.com).
The exhibition coincides with the release of Frances’ first monograph of the same title with an introduction by Richard Meier, published by Pond Press. In the preface to MonoVisioN, Meier writes, “A Scott Frances photograph captures all these ephemeral elements that I have always explored in my architectural work. The images in this book portray the qualities that give every space and building a sense of place, and the constant dialogue between the man-made and the natural. MonoVisioN becomes an exploration of solid and void, transparency and opaqueness, the rational and the intuitive, and an essay on composition.” The images in the book are fantastic, but the text itself it equally compelling with Scott writing all of it himself (including the fact that he only has only one good eye giving him an acute sense of depth and viewpoint).
Scott has worked with several of the world’s top architects and designers and is a regular contributor to Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, and Departures. He has photographed the homes of such celebrities as Jennifer Aniston, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Jim Belushi, Claire Danes, Clive Davis and Steve Jobs. For more information on the show click here. In the meantime, we've also included a cool video below to give you an idea of what to expect Tuesday. See you there!
