The exhibition coincides with the release of Frances’ first monograph of the same title with an introduction by Richard Meier, published by Pond Press. In the preface to MonoVisioN, Meier writes, “A Scott Frances photograph captures all these ephemeral elements that I have always explored in my architectural work. The images in this book portray the qualities that give every space and building a sense of place, and the constant dialogue between the man-made and the natural. MonoVisioN becomes an exploration of solid and void, transparency and opaqueness, the rational and the intuitive, and an essay on composition.” The images in the book are fantastic, but the text itself it equally compelling with Scott writing all of it himself (including the fact that he only has only one good eye giving him an acute sense of depth and viewpoint).
Scott has worked with several of the world’s top architects and designers and is a regular contributor to Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, The New York Times Magazine, and Departures. He has photographed the homes of such celebrities as Jennifer Aniston, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Jim Belushi, Claire Danes, Clive Davis and Steve Jobs. For more information on the show click here.
